Ronald van der Meer joined DP World head office in 2016 as senior automation manager.
Currently he is the Project Director for the High Bay Store (HBS) Proof of Concept at DP World Jebel Ali T4. He has been involved in the HBS developments from the initial studies, the creation of the BoxBay JV and the realization of the first running facility.
Prior to this, Ronald was working as Project Director for Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG), the first fully automated container terminal in the world with battery powered AGV’s. Ronald involved in the RWG project from the early design stage until the final hand-over to the operational organization.
Ronald started his automated terminal career in 1989 when he joined Europe Container Terminals in Rotterdam. During this time, he was a key manager in development of the AGV and ASC concept of the Sea-Land Delta Terminal Project, the first semi-automated container terminal in the Ports Industry. After the equipment development Ronald took a role in the operations management team for the startup of the terminal. Later Ronald took on assignments for ECT Hutchinson as IT and engineering Manager.
